It has been my honor to be the mother of 2 fine boys, John and Kevin. Kevin passed away at age 18 in 1995. John (40 years) has a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in Logic, Computation and Methodology. He is currently a professor at San Bernardino University, California, and formerly John taught at Stanford University.
I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Millersville State University and my certification in Safety Education from West Chester State University. Although it was not my original career choice,
I became a driving instructor(27 years and counting!). Upon my divorce in 1997, I became the sole owner of A-1 Mumma's Driving Training School, Inc. I have expanded the business beyond the traditional 16 year old to include the physically handicapped, refugees/immigrants
(ESL), students with learning disabilities, and clients who are
required to have a driving evaluation per their doctor. These latter
clients most likely have cognitive issues. Working with these
non-traditional students has been incredibly rewarding.
Personally, I love to travel! I have been to France 5 times in
the last 5 years---visiting my son who was studying in Paris,
wedding, visiting my friend’s family. I have learned to read
and speak some French. My eternal goal is to become
absolutely fluent in French. Study French seriously when I
retire!
Now for a surprise! I emerged from high school with the dubious
distinction of never participating in any sport ( Never even dreamed
of being a cheerleader! ) So I had to hustle to catch up! So I did!
My current regime is weight training & Zumba twice weekly,
“pray & sweat”, and soul line dancing. I train for the occasional
race. Another prime goal is to finish in the top 3 in our age group
in the Lancaster’s annual Race Against Racism. I want to train
for the 1/2 marathon. I need to have one of those “13.1” stickers
to slap onto my car. Of course, my trainer, Cindy, would say
“Go for the ‘26.2’!”
