J. Andrew Young

J. Andrew Young, Jr. ""Drew"" of Norristown, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017, with his family by his side. He was 66 years old. Born December 4, 1950, in Norristown, he was the son of the late James A. Young, Sr. and Florence (nee Johnson) Young. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann ""Betty"" (nee Gardner) Young with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.
Drew was a graduate of Norristown High School in 1968 and Westchester State College, Class of 1972. He was an IT Project Manager at Delaware Valley Financial Services for many years. Drew was a past President of the Exchange Club of Norristown, and was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Drew was a Certified Mechanic and amateur aviator and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was an avid history buff, a Corvette enthusiast, and a model builder. He loved the music of the Sixties and enjoyed doing home improvement projects. In addition to his wife, Betty, Drew is survived by his two sons: James A. Young, III (Jennifer), and Scott Young (Liz); three grandchildren: Mackenzi, Arianna and Nicole; his brother, Robert Young (Kathy) and their children Steve and Katie; cousins Sue McCulloch (Ian) and Richard Johnson; and his aunt, Nancy Johnson (the late Robert). Drew was looking forward to the birth of his first grandson. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Drew's Life Celebration on Friday, May 26, from 6 to 8 PM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, May 27 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church 126 Black Rock Rd. Oaks, PA. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be no viewing on Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, donations in Drew's name can be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church at the above address or to Lymphoma Research Foundation To share your fondest memories of Drew visit

Sorry to hear the news. Drew & I met in 4th grade at Gotwals and attended school together. We lived in the same neighborhood and many times walked to school together. I played for thier wedding at St Francis RC Church 44 years ago. The last time I saw Betty and Drew was at Dr Mauthe's retirement party in 2002. Rest in peace old friend.
