In Memory

James J. Smith

I'm sorry to announce the passing of another classmate.

Surrounded by his loving family, James (Jim) Joseph Smith, Jr., 72, of Blue Bell passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023. Born on March 6, 1950, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James & Frances (Logan) Smith and the adoring husband of Elaine (Genuardi) Smith.

Jim served his country proudly in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army until his honorable discharge in 1972. After the service, he worked at Genuardi Supermarkets as a frozen food, store, and property manager. His career there spanned 35 years. Subsequently, he worked as a commercial real estate property manager for CB Richard Ellis and Jones Lang LaSalle.

In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling with his family. He also had a love for trains and co-founded the Philadelphia N Track Club for model railroad enthusiasts. Jim enjoyed listening to bluegrass and country music, watching old western movies, eating Hershey's chocolates, flying the American flag, reading history books, consuming ice cream and viewing fireworks. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family as often as he could. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a dear friend who will be missed by many.
